Gearbox repair in Singapore

Gearbox repair starts with a diagnosis: reading the car's fault codes, checking the fluid and test driving it. From there a specialist can service, repair or overhaul the gearbox. Slipping gears, harsh shifts and warning lights are common reasons to book in early, before a small fault grows.

What gearbox repair involves

Gearbox work starts with a diagnosis: reading fault codes, checking the fluid level and condition, and a test drive. The fix can be a fluid change, a valve body or solenoid repair, a software reset or a full overhaul.

Signs you may need it

  • Jerking or a delay when shifting, especially from a stop
  • The engine revs rise but the car does not speed up (slipping)
  • A gearbox or check-engine warning light
  • Whining, clunking or burning smells from the gearbox
  • Fluid leaks under the middle of the car

What to ask the workshop

  • What the diagnosis found and which fault codes were read
  • Whether a repair is possible before an overhaul or replacement
  • Which fluid type is used for your gearbox
  • What warranty is given on the work

Questions about gearbox repair

Is a jerking CVT always a major fault?

Not always. Old fluid, a software issue or a sensor fault can cause similar symptoms. A proper diagnosis tells you which.

Should gearbox fluid be changed?

Many gearboxes have a service interval for fluid in the handbook. Ask the workshop which fluid your gearbox needs before it is changed.

Can I keep driving with a slipping gearbox?

It can make the damage worse. Book a check early and avoid hard driving until then.
